Why not .JPEG?

Jpeg was one of the first image formats to hit computers. It was released in 1992. The way it compresses images is by discarding information and making the image grainy. See the below comparison of PNG and JPEG. .PNG ideal for drawings anyway, so there's no reason you should be using .JPEG (which was made for photographs. Like from a camera.)
